Wide Plank European Chestnut

At Triton, hardwood floors are in our DNA. We believe they are the perfect touch to take any home to the next level. Offering a variety of wide plank, domestic, exotic, and antique species we are certain we have what your project needs. With over a decade of handcrafting and installing custom hardwood flooring, we can handle any project. Each of our species is offered in Plain Sawn, Quarter Sawn, Rift Sawn, and Engineered, with the exception of our reclaimed species.

Solid Flooring

  • Created from one piece of wood
  • Often referred to as Plank or Strip 
  • Tongue & Groove, micro-beveled edge or square edge, stress relief backing
  • Range in thickness from 1/2” to 2”, depending upon application
  • Installation is “above grade” or above ground level
  • Can be nailed, stapled or glued for installation purposes
  •  Available in both Prefinished and Unfinished
  • Available in nearly every species of domestic, exotic, or reclaimed (antique)
  • Various surface treatments include heat-treated (also known as fumed), wire brushed, hand distressed, smooth, hand planed and saw markings.
  • Requires an acclimation period prior to installation


Engineered Flooring

  • Created using wood veneers up to 6mm thick (this is not a laminate floor)
  • Greater stability with less movement than solids (less likely to bow or cup when used in wide widths
  • Construction can vary greatly between products
  • Available Tongue & Groove, Click System, or Square Edged
  • Range of thickness from 1/2” to 3/4” depending upon product
  • Installation is “above grade” (above ground level) or “below grade” (basements)
  • Can be floated, nailed, stapled, or glued for installation purposes
  • Available in both prefinished or unfinished
  • Available in nearly every species of domestic, exotic, or reclaimed (antique)
  • Various surface treatments include heat-treated (also known as fumed), wire brushed, hand distressed, smooth, hand planed and saw markings
  • Preferred choice for installation over concrete
  • Can be installed over radiant heating options

Prefinished Flooring

  • Factory finished flooring
  • Common finishes include polyurethane or oil
  • Can be clear or stained with custom colors
  • Micro-beveled edge 
  • Finishing occurs in a controlled environment, allows for additional quality control and additional coats to be applied after acclimation period; material can be installed without any sanding on the project site

  • Common finishes include water-based or oil-based polyurethane, oil, or waxes
  • Can be stained using a variety of different stain options
  • Finishing occurs on the jobsite, typically 3 coats of finish
  • Square Edge 
  • Sand and on-site finish is required
